Getting ready...

Today I sewed our christmas stockings. They're not like the traditional stockings that are only hung on christmas eve, these are going to be used all december, ready for whatever gifts and surprises the nisse would like to give us. It's the first year we're doing the stocking thing and I hope Rune enjoys surprising me just as much as I enjoy finding small gifts for him...

Sunday

First sunday of advent is just around the corner which means that christmas is on its way! I haven't done a traditionel advent wreath this year, but I've dressed up our Kubus candleholder so we can light a candle the next four sundays. Have a great sunday!

(The photo is a bit dark, it's so difficult to take nice, bright pictures this time of year)

Piece by piece

I saw this old, worn mosaic floor between to shops. Once a splendid entrance, now cracked and forgotten, but still beautiful.

An award!

Look what I got, my very first award! Given to me by Alles ist gut and I'm so proud and grateful. As part of the award I have to tell you about three things I like to do:

  1. I like to stay up late at night, the best hours of the day are between 12 and 2 AM.
  2. I like to wacth reality tv. Not the kind where people battle it out on an island, but the kind where some nice woman gets styled and equipped with a new wardrobe. My favorite show right now is the one with Mary Portas which has finally reached us here in Denmark. I just love to see her struggle to turn some little shop around. Brilliant!
  3. I like to write lists. Lists of what to do, what to pack, what to remenber, just anything really. Lists are nice.
And now I'm going to pass the award on to these five fine blogs:

Paint and paper

I finally climbed over the mess in our spare room and retrieved some of my craft stuff. So nice to paint, cut and glue stuff again! I did these three small canvases in happy colours to celebrate.

The Colour Purple

Today I'm Aunt Lavender!

Look what I've made!

It's thick and heavy, done only in knit stitches and not the most refined piece of knitting, but I'm so proud of this scarf I've made!
I haven't knitted since I was at school, almost 25 years ago, so this was a real challenge. Now I'm doing purl stitches, just brilliant!

(And thanks to my darling Rune for acting as a reluctant model)

To whom it may concern...

About 10 minutes walk from where I live there is this tree. A small tree, between the cycle lane and the road. And the tree branches are full of these red and purple baubles. I don't know who put them there, or why, but everytime I pass, this quirky tree makes me smile! So thank you, whoever you are, I'm grateful that you took the time to hang all the baubles on the branches and brightening my day.

The cupcake has landed!

A while ago I saw some cupcakes in a department store with bright green, yellow and pink frosting, so I took some photos and was going to write a post about them. Them seemed very artificial, but also strangely alluring...
It seems like the world has gone crazy for cupcakes lately and perhaps they have already had their day. Here in Copenhagen we've been a bit slow to get on board and those brightly coloured ones were some of the first 'real' cupcakes I've seen. But... then I had a tip from my hairdresser and I went to this shop called Agnes. Now talk about real cupcakes! The shop opened in september and they make the most fantastic varieties, I mean imagine a licorice or ginger zing cupcake...Their cupcakes are not only pretty, but so delicious!
