Green

As a child and, even more so, as an adult I have loved the drawings by swedish Elsa Beskow. Her children books are so sweet and naive, and in her nature stories like Peter in Blueberry Land, the picture of wildlife and small fantasy creatures are just beautiful. One of my favorite books by Elsa Beskow is Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender. Not so much a fairytale as some of her other books, but I think it's my favorite because it makes me wonder: which colour aunt would I be? Well, today I seem to be Aunt Green. How about you?

Last night at Tivoli

The halloween fair at Tivoli here in Copenhagen was open for just ten days this month, so last night we hurried along to see all the pumpkins and lights on the last day. It was just beautiful! Now we're waiting for the christmas fair to open in november...

Delicious!

Beautiful, delicious and healthy, what more can you ask for? I love sushi! This was our saturday treat, after a shopping trip, searching for a birthday gift for my father, and a long walk in the nice (and dry!) autumn weather. Before I met my husband I used to make my own sushi, but somehow I just forgot to. Think it might be time to make some califonrnia rolls again...

Just for show

Love these decorative gourds. They come in all shapes and sizes, luring me into buying them every year with their gorgeous oranges and greens. Right now I have some lying in my windowsill, some of them a gift from my sister-in-law, Paula. I love them and they look beautiful, but sometimes they also seem a bit silly as they serve no other purpose than to be pretty. Not like a basil plant or a basket of apples that you can turn into something tasty. But perhaps they don't need a purpose, other than to make me smile... Have a great weekend!

Collecting conkers

Conkers! Love their colour, their texture, how they remind me of when I was a child, creating fantasy animals out of matchsticks and a few conkers with my brother.

October in Copenhagen

Went for a walk today. Blue sky, soft clouds and the most gorgeous autumn colours. Joy and beauty indeed!

Dinner

Last nights dinner, beetroot salad with apple, orange, and walnuts. Tasty on its own, but with a little dressing made of sour cream and whole grain mustard it was delicious! Add some roast chicken and potatos, and we had a feast!

Brunch with my baby

Had a great, lazy, brunch with Rune today. A cup of tea, a paper, and plenty of time. Perfect!
- and I get the irony of posting in black and white after the celebration of colour in my last post, but these photos just begged to be like this :-)

The scent of cinnamon

So I guess I'm in hibernation-mood, with the cold weather and all. I've been knitting, lighting candles in the evenings, and baking. Apple cake, buns, and these scrumptious cinnamon rolls that made the whole apartment smell delicious.

The invasion of the marzipan frogs!

I saw these frogs in a bakery and had to take a few photos. I don't know whether it was their acid green colour or just the quantity of them that fascinated me.... But their faces just seem so cheery, they make me smile!

Roses

Today I brought my camera with me as I ran some errands, expecting to take some nice autumn  photos, lots of clear blue sky and red and yellow leaves... But look what I found, the most beautiful roses! I'm a total autumn person, I love the changing colours, the crisp air, and even the cold, but when I look at these gorgeous flowers I'm glad that summer decided to stick around a while longer!
